[News] First Trailer for Studio Ghibli's WHEN MARNIE WAS THERE

Late last week, we shared six brand spanking new images from Studio Ghibli's upcoming film WHEN MARNIE WAS THERE. We also lamented over the lack of Trailer considering the film's imminent July release date. No less than a week later and we now have our first true look at WHEN MARNIE WAS THERE.

WHEN MARNIE WAS THERE tells the story of Anna, a shy lonely young girl who hasn't a friend in the world. She then meets Marnie, a beautiful yet enigmatic girl of the same age. The two strike up a friendship, although, Marnie is perhaps not all she seems...

The film, based on a beloved Childrens Novel by Joan G. Robinson and is Directed by Yonebayashi Hiroma (THE SECRET WORLD OF ARRIETTY), marks a time of transition for Studio Ghibli as a company, as the founding fathers -- Toshio Suzuki, Hayao Miyazaki, and Isao Takahata -- have all supposedly entered retirement. If this trailer is anything to go by, it seems that Director Yonebayashi is more than ready to continue carrying the torch of Ghibli.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments box.
